Four Aspects of a Community Group

Community & Care
Form meaningful friendships where you are genuinely known, cared for, and encouraged spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Spiritual Health & Growth
Grow in spiritual maturity through cultivating habits such as Scripture meditation & application, prayer, fellowship, and obedience.
Discipleship & Ownership
Learn how to be a disciple-maker where you live, learn, work, and play and take personal ownership in helping people know and follow Jesus.
Mission & Outreach
Serve the Big “K” Kingdom together through hospitality, service, and prayer.

Discipleship in Community Groups

Community groups are the primary pathway for discipleship and establish a foundation for disciple-making by providing a space to cultivate authentic fellowship and genuine faith. You will be formed as a disciple through studying Scripture, discussing insights and questions, praying together, challenging each other in real-life application, and serving our church and community together. You can expect to be encouraged to take next steps in your faith and held accountable by the other members of the group who will care and support you through the process.

Community Group Meetings

Community Groups meet mostly in host homes across Galveston Island for fellowship and Bible study. They go through Bible-based curriculum that covers different books or sections of the Bible. Groups meet weekly Sunday-Thursday following a school semester schedule. Typically, Fall groups meet September - November and Spring groups meet January - April. All groups take a break May - August for summer. In lieu of community groups during this time, we have a multi-generational Summer Bible Study in June & July hosted at the church for anyone to attend. It is a great place to meet new people over the summer break.

Childcare for Community Groups

For Community Groups that offer childcare, we encourage a payment of $35 per child each semester in order to offset the cost of childcare provided by Coastal. For Community Groups that do not offer childcare, options include splitting the cost of a sitter within the group or making individual arrangements.
